H.E.A.R.T. ~ E-News Update
The plot thickens
The
unthinkable happened ...we had our second accident on Friday AM! In
David's Land Rover! Jackson was driving and I was in the shotgun
seat ...Tammy and Don and Pat were in the back seat. We were on
Kiambu Road about 6:30 AM ...a man was riding a bike on the road to
our left (there are no bike lanes) when he seemed to hit something
(this road has many potholes) and began to wobble and then swerved
into our lane. Jackson did not panic ...there were cars coming in
the other direction ...he tried to swear to miss the man …but we hit
him ...the bike and man went flying and the man hit our windshield
and shattered it …on my side of the vehicle. Jackson saw a break in
the on coming traffic and went off the road to our right and the man
fell off our Land Rover and landed just beside us. Some pedestrians
watching all this...pulled him off the road into the grass by our
Land Rover. I had shattered glass on my face and clothes and two
small cuts on my face ...and was spitting glass out of my mouth! The
man was alert and could move ...the police came ...Tammy called Bob
and asked him to come ...we were close by our home. I called Bob and
asked him to bring my car …Tammy was very shook up ...Pat and her
were both also in the first accident ...Jackson stayed with our Land
Rover and went with it to the Police headquarters. Bob took Tammy,
Don and Pat home.
I
drove the man to the hospital in my car. He walked to my vehicle!
With Police assistance! I called Dr Meshach and asked him to meet us
at the Hospital ...Want to hear another miracle? The man was fine
...he complained of his chest hurting ...they could find nothing
wrong, but I asked the doctor to order a chest x-ray. HEART paid his
hospital bill as he is a casual laborer and did not have any money.
He was released the same day when the x-ray came back normal! PTL!!
I
drove to the Police station to give my report on the accident ...Bob
and the Team came in a rented van as our other Land Rover is still
under estimation as to what to do with it ...I went on to Kilaguni
with the Team ....
We again are all fine ...just a bit shook up. Bob and Tammy stayed
behind with Jackson to sort out the Land Rover, and had the
windshield fixed before we got home today. I will attach a picture
here. Sorry David this happened in your vehicle, but when we got
home today it looks like your Land Rover is as good as before!
So we have had quite a time ...two Land Rovers needing repairs
...had to rent a vehicle to finish out this team...they leave for US
tomorrow. Please pray with us for the funds to get our Land Rover
back (or replaced) before our teams begin again in late February! I
know it is Christmas time and our HEART Dinner is just around the
corner, but wanted you to know what is happening here and share our
need with you.
